About Me

Jon Woodroffe has returned to The Oaks as Director of Golf having been one of the teaching professionals here from 1981 to 1987. Through his long career Jon has specialised in getting beginners into golf, in fact over 25,000 people have started with him. This has led to him being awarded the status of Advanced Fellow of the PGA which puts him in the top 1% of British PGA professionals in the world.

Jon was the driving force behind the largest learn to play golf programme in the world that helped introduce thousands of new people to the game of golf and helped him to be voted the PGA coach of the year in the South in 2014.

Jon returns to The Oaks with the aim of helping more people start golf. With the superb facilities that The Oaks has to offer the new golfer he is looking to guide players from the range onto the lovely 9 hole course. From there, they can then move onto the full size 18 hole course. This way he is hoping to smooth the journey into the game for as many people as possible.

Many people are put off taking up golf either by the cost or by not knowing anyone who is a beginner. So Jon is offering free beginners group classes. Thus the 4 x 1 hour weekly lessons are free of charge and as the lessons are in groups there is the potential of golfing playing partners for the future.

The classes will run weekday evenings, daytimes and weekends.

Jon is also available for personal golf coaching and to book a lesson with him just call the golf shop on 020 8643 8363
